Subtly camouflaged in the hills above the village of Brough, and often unnoticed by trans-Pennine travellers, the Fox Tower folly – part of the Helbeck estate – is one of my favourite subjects. When the sun reflects off its walls, picking it out from the rocks surrounding it, it emits a sense of a bygone era. Here, in summer, loftily rising above the trees, the contrast between man and nature is striking.
