The blocks of drying peat outside a traditional but and ben cottage in Shetland doubly peaked my interest: firstly, to record an aspect of a disappearing rural lifestyle, and secondly, as an abstract composition. The colours, shapes and textures of the stacked peats have been drawn out by the cropping of the image.
